CONGRATULATIONS TO

ELYSE JOHNSON ON RECEIVING THE 2022 BABS OF JAMFAM MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP!

My name is Elyse Johnson, from Long Island, NY. Currently I am a rising- senior, studying Music Industry at SUNY Oneonta. I am very active on my campus. This past semester, I served as the Recruitment Assistant for the Admissions Office & AOP Program. Responsibilities included contacting prospective students, scheduling interviews, maintaining students’ database, handling paperwork & hosting events. While working, I was also involved with different clubs and organizations. Including the Music Industry Club which gives me the ability to network, help my peers conduct conferences, concerts, panels etc. In addition to serving as a talk show host with an all- female student panel. Discussing a wide range of topics, in which I gladly take the responsibility for choosing the latest topics on Entertainment/Music. My passion for music and entertainment is the reason I’ve chosen to pursue a career in this industry. It started at an early age where I began to take piano lessons while still, playing the flute in the school band. I was always into the arts whether it was taking piano lessons, voice lessons, choirs or dance classes. Fast forwarding to high- school, where I got a chance to take an Entertainment Marketing course and realized it was more than just a class for me. For the final project, I created an entire marketing plan for well- known artists but, placed them in a girl group together. I created my own merchandise, flyers, chose venues, menus, floor plan, budgeting, tour dates, etc. This class along with my immediate family is what inspired me to pursue a career in music. In addition to having influential mentors in my life and some of my favorite artists like Beyonce, PJ Morton, Brandy and H.E.R. Over the years, I've been able to gain knowledge with audio production (Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools), marketing, promotion, content creation & more. I have been consistently recognized as being hardworking, dedicated, proactive, and a pleasure to work with. I will always have the desire to learn and grow within the music and business.
